Gooding & Ramnarine Win Nevis Triathlon

T&T Triathletes dominated the Nevis triathlon Sunday 21st March 2010.

Maria Gooding, 20, of Rainbow Warriors Triathlon Club and Chandrapaul Ramnarine,20, of Penal Triathletes both won the female and male Under-24 Sprint triathlon distance in 1:27. 14 (after swimming off course) and 1:11. 27 respectively. Ramnarine won this same event last year.

Following closely behind Ramnarine was Johnathn Paul, 17, in 1:15.51. Paul will be heading off to Mexico next month to compete for sport at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore later this year.

In the Nevis race Paul was ahead of Ramnarine during the swim and bike legs of the race, but was overtaken on the run leg.

In the Olympic distance (twice the Sprint) race, National Champion Clarance Tobias (2:18.38) was beaten into third spot by Ancil Greene (2:17.10), who was second to Brisitsh triathlete Dodd who finished in 2:10.55. David Hay, 20, was fourth in 2:21.36. Our triathletes made Trinidad & Tobago proud.
