Chandrapaul Wins Nevis Sprint Triathlon

Chardrapaul Ramnarine, 20, of Penal Triathletes, beat 16 other triathletes in Nevis to win the Sprint (750m swim/20km sycle/5km run) Triahtlon last Sunday.

His competitors came from the USA, the UK, Nevis, Nevis, ANU, and TT, and his winning time for the hilly course was 1:15.29. Also in that same race were Trinidadian Robert Tang Yuk, of Rainbow Warriors. He finished in 11th.
spot in 1:42.23. And Ricardo Chacin of RWTC who suffered two punctures but still finished in 11th spot in the longer distance in 2:51.24.

Ramnarine was part of the six-member team representing T&T at the Nevis, including Ancil Greene of Trigems Triathlon Club, who placed fourth in a time of 2:24.41 in the Olympic (1500m swim/40km cycle/10km run) race, followed by compatriot, Clarance Tobias, fifth, in a time of 2:26.04.

Other ladies in the Sprint event were Jacqueline Jodhan who finished sixth among the women in 1:28.04 and Lara Smith who finished in ninth position in 1:32.11.

Former nine-times national champion Jason Gooding was on his first assignment as coach/manager of the national team.
